Sales of marine fuel at both ends of the Panama Canal in March increased by 6% on year, according to data from La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá, also known as the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA).
It registered total sales figure of 440,890 metric tonnes (mt) in March 2018, higher than 414,871 mt in March 2017.
The Pacific Entrance recorded sales volume of 341,754 mt for fuel oil and marine diesel oil (MDO) in March 2018, above 324,042 mt during the comparative period.
312,641 mt of fuel oil and 29,113 mt of MDO were sold at the Pacific Entrance in March 2018, compared to 301,333 mt and 22,709 during March 2017.
The Atlantic entrance posted sales of 99,136 mt for fuel oil and MDO in March 2018, an increased over 90,829 mt on year.
85,719 mt of fuel oil and 13,417 mt of MDO were delivered to vessels in March 2018, compared to 78,882 mt and 11,947 mt.
