Marine fuels testing company VPS recently announced they will be hosting a biofuels seminar in Singapore to assist in meeting and overcoming the challenges posed by the introduction of biofuels as a viable and alternative bunker fuel source for the decarbonisation of shipping.
The event will be held at the Park Royal Hotel, Singapore from 2.45pm to 6pm on 15 February.
The seminar will primarily focus on biofuels in terms of the challenges they raise and how these can be overcome through in-depth knowledge and pragmatic quality control to ensure the successful implementation of biofuels as a viable alternative fuel option.
Panel experts of the discussion are Carl Schou – CEO of Wilhelmsen Ship Management, Dr. Prapisala Thepsithar, Director of GCMD and Elfian Harun, Regional Manager of INTERTANKO. The moderator of the seminar is Capt. Rahul Choudhuri, Regional Director AMEA, VPS.
Steve Bee, Group Commercial & Business Development Director, VPS will be the keynote speaker.
In Singapore, the world’s biggest bunkering hub, the B24 market is growing rapidly, according to Argus Media. Sales in 2022 were more than 140,000t, with trade accelerating over the last three months of the year.
Manifold Times previously reported that while total volume declined by 4.3% year-on-year in Singapore, bunker sales in 2022 included about 140,000 tonnes of biofuel blends over more than 90 biofuel bunkering operations, surpassing the 16,000 tonnes in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunker sales.
