Liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering services are now available at Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) through supplier SkanGas, it says.
CMP conducted its first LNG bunkering operation on Wednesday by providing the marine fuel via tanker lorries to the cement carrier Iceland.
“Iceland was provided with LNG via two tanker lorries on the quayside. The bunkering was undramatic, and it feels good for us now to be able to offer this possibility,” says CMP's Terminal Manager Emil Nordström.
“We are now evaluating various solutions so that more types of vessels can bunker LNG with us.
“We might consider bunkering from ships, or we might invest in our own permanent LNG infrastructure in the future.”
