Hercules Tanker Management launches 'Ultra-Spec Series' bunker tanker “Harriet”

Hercules Tanker Management (HTM) on Friday (31 October) announced the successful launch of HTM Harriet, the first vessel in its ‘Ultra-Spec Series’ of next-generation tankers.

HTM is the shipping venture launched in September 2024 by John A. Bassadone, founder and CEO of independent marine fuel supplier Peninsula.

Delivered in October, Harriet is now en route from South East Asia carrying a cargo of B100 biofuel—a clear signal of our commitment to facilitate cleaner energy solutions.

“This marks the beginning of a transformative journey for our fleet and the industry. Our 10 hybrid-ready, 7,700 DWT vessels are designed for global operations, capable of transporting and supplying all grades of conventional bunkers, up to B100 and methanol,” the company said in a social media post.

The vessels are described as ‘ultra-spec’ due to their flexible, sustainable design, which aims to minimise emissions. They will replace older, energy-intensive tonnage for sustainable marine operations.

Equipped with diesel-electric propulsion, battery-ready configurations, and advanced hull designs, the vessels maximise efficiency and reduce emissions.

“Built for flexibility, they enable us to deliver cleaner fuel options and support evolving customer needs,” the company added.

The next vessel delivery is scheduled for November, with additional deliveries every two months into 2027.

Manifold Times previously reported HTM announcing its plan to add up to 10 IMO II Chemical Tankers that will have the ability to supply up to 100% biofuel and all forms of methanol and feature diesel-electric and battery-ready power units.
