PetroChina International (Singapore) on Friday (16 October) said its wholly owned subsidiary, SPC Shipping, has acquired a newly built methanol dual-fuel bunkering vessel from Italy’s Fratelli Cosulich Group.

The vessel, named Vanda Pioneer, was officially named on 16 October after arriving at the Jurong Port Universal Terminal in Singapore. It is the third owned bunkering vessel in PetroChina International’s Singapore fleet.

The acquisition agreement was signed in Singapore on 14 October. Wu Junli, Deputy Chief Economist of PetroChina and Executive Director of PetroChina International, and Timothy Cosulich, Chief Executive Officer of Fratelli Cosulich Group, witnessed the signing. Sun Jinhua, Managing Director of PetroChina International (Singapore), and Diana Mok, Managing Director of Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers (S) Pte Ltd., signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.

Built at a Chinese shipyard, Vanda Pioneer is an IMO Type II chemical tanker measuring 114.99 metres in length, with a deadweight tonnage of 7,999 tonnes.

The vessel can transport and deliver multiple fuel types, including methanol, biodiesel and conventional marine fuels. Its manoeuvrability is designed to support ship-to-ship bunkering operations in Singapore and other major regional ports.

PetroChina International (Singapore) said it would continue developing its marine fuel supply business in Singapore and Southeast Asia, with a focus on expanding its capabilities across multiple fuel types and lower-carbon bunkering services.
