Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) on Thursday (17 October) said it signed an agreement with Yinson GreenTech to build a charging infrastructure for the Hydromover, Singapore’s first fully electric cargo vessel, at its Pandan Loop facility.

WSS said the collaboration supports ongoing efforts to develop electrification solutions for harbour craft, aligning with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)’s and Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) initiatives.

The contract was signed by Jan Viggo Johansen and Henning Hagemann, with Yinson GreenTech’s Matthew Tseng, Gan Jia Hao, Loke Jie, and Daniel Ong, alongside representatives from WSS’s global operations team, headed by Frank Fodstad and Raimond Visser, MSc

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Yinson GreenTech, a leading provider of technology solutions focused on sustainable development,” WSS said in a social media post.

In a separate post, Yinson GreenTech said the collaboration marked a significant step in advancing the electrification of harbour craft and decarbonisation of the maritime industry.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with WSS to drive sustainable maritime solutions. Together, we are paving the way for a greener future in the shipping industry,” Yinson added.

Manifold Times previously reported Yinson signing a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), a global leader in maritime transportation, during Singapore Maritime Week 2024

YGT’s marine electrification business, marinEV, and EPS aim to be at the forefront of maritime history by jointly facilitating the first cargo delivery using an electric vessel within the Port of Singapore.
