Norway-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure solutions developer Kanfer Shipping on Thursday (6 January) said it has entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Suardiaz and Simpson Spence Young (SSY) to explore LNG bunkering opportunities in Spain and Portugal.
“Small scale LNG bunkering and distribution is developing rapidly in the Mediterranean and especially in Spain and Portugal,” stated the firm in a social media update.
“The purpose of this non-exclusive agreement is exploring opportunities in these markets in order to find charters for small scale LNG bunkering and distribution ships.”
Family-owned shipowner Suardiaz owns and operates a fleet of conventional bunkering ships in Spain and has an extensive network and reputation in the bunkering sector, according to Kanfer Shipping.
World’s largest independent ship broker Simpson Spence Young (SSY), which has an office in Madrid, is meanwhile following the small-scale LNG market closely.
“We are delighted to bring onboard these parties and we are confident that this will bear fruits,” says Kanfer Shipping Managing Partner Stig Hagen.
Manifold Times in October reported Kanfer Shipping signing a yard agreement with Taizhou Shipyard, China to construct two 6,000 cbm tailor-made LNG bunkering and distribution vessels.
