Cosco Shipping subsidiary receives CCS certificate for ammonia fuel supply system

Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Cosco) on Friday (25 August) said its subsidiary Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry Technology (Weihai) Co., Ltd (Weihai) successfully obtained the first marine product certificate from China Classification Society (CCS) on 22 August. 

Cosco said it was the first in China to successfully operate an ammonia fuel supply system in a simulated ship scenario.

During an expert group review meeting, Weihai introduced the operation system development as well as demonstrated the working principle, control unit and functions of the ammonia fuel supply system. 

The expert group focused on the process design and electrical design of the system, with emphasis on the safety and reliability of ammonia in the system application process.

After the on-site review by the expert group, the system was found to be stable and reliable, and all parameters met the design requirements.

Under changing working conditions, it was found to have a stable output of fuel supply pressure, temperature as well as stable operation of the ship’s main and auxiliary engines in all working conditions.
