China: Headway gains CCS approval for intelligent energy efficiency management system

Qingdao-based maritime technology firm Headway Technology Group (Headway) on Friday (29 March) said its intelligent energy efficiency management system (IEEMS) for ships received a Type Approval Certificate from China Classification Society (CCS).

The firm said the award marked a crucial progress made by Headway in the field of ship intelligence.

“The system is an important part of Headway’s low-carbon solutions for shipping,” Headway said.

The system can intelligently collect, analyse and calculate ship data and marine climate data in real time.

It relies on artificial intelligence technology to monitor the navigation conditions, energy efficiency distribution and energy conversion efficiency comprehensively. It will then present optimisation suggestions, achieving optimum ship energy efficiency.

Headway further explained that the system integrates advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IOT), edge computing, and big data analysis.

“By collecting ship sensor data, it establishes a computing brain on the ship side to integrate, analyse, and process the data,” the firm said.

“At the same time, the system utilises machine learning algorithms to continuously improve and optimise computing performance, predict the future trends of energy consumption and energy efficiency, with a prediction accuracy rate of up to 99.96%.”

In addition, the system data can be viewed at shore through a cloud server, enabling operators to monitor the ship’s navigation status anytime and anywhere through mobile phones, computers, and other terminals.

Headway said it will continue to focus on the frontier technological ecology of the shipping industry, providing green, safe, sustainable, and intelligent low-carbon shipping solutions and services for ships.
