Norwegian Car Carriers names LNG dual-fuel, ammonia-ready PCTC in China

Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd on Tuesday (18 November) held a naming ceremony for the NOCC PACIFIC, a 7,000CEU LNG dual-fuel Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC), at CIMC Raffles’ Longkou Shipyard.

As the first PCTC built by CIMC Raffles for the Norwegian Car Carriers AS (NOCC), the company said the vessel marked a significant milestone in the partnership between the two companies and injects new momentum into NOCC’s fleet upgrading and the global transition toward greener shipping.

The vessel measures 199.9 meters in length, 38 meters in breadth, with a design draft of 8.6 meters and a service speed of 19 knots.

With a capacity of 7,000 cars, it is equipped with two type-C LNG tanks and dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines, achieving zero emissions during port operations.

The vessel has been awarded the “Ammonia-Ready” notation by DNV, enabling future upgrades to lower-carbon fuels. During construction, CIMC Raffles adopted a new “priority deck forming followed by side-shell assembly” approach for the first time, reducing hull plate deformation by more than 15%, improving accuracy, and shortening the construction schedule.

The NOCC PACIFIC is the 15th PCTC delivered by CIMC Raffles and the 7th PCTC scheduled for delivery from the Longkou base in 2025, further consolidating the company’s capability in batch production and its leading position in the global PCTC market.
