Cosco Shipping Bulk on Tuesday (12 March) signed a contract with Xiamen Financial Leasing and Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co Ltd for the construction of eight methanol ready bulk carriers.
The eight 64,000DWT methanol ready ships will adopt new ship technologies and will run on methanol bunker fuel.
Compared to similar ships in China and in the international market, the ships will have a larger load capacity, lower fuel consumption, and achieve more fuel efficiency.
“Cosco Shipping Bulk ranks first in the world in terms of its own dry bulk cargo capacity,” Lin Junjie, Vice President of Xiamen Xiangyu Group and Chairman of Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co Ltd said at the signing ceremony.
“We believe that with its shipping experience and strong operational capabilities, these eight methanol ready ships will surely win over more customers and create greater value with their high-quality service and excellent performance.”
“We hope to take this signing as a starting point to start a new voyage with Xiamen Financial Leasing and Cosco Shipping Bulk, and sail towards a broader prospect in the vast ocean of the shipping market.”
