The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Wednesday (20 March) said it hosted international delegates at its Port Operations Control Centre for an insightful exchange on maritime decarbonisation and the greening of ports.
This was part of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)’s ‘Regional Knowledge Sharing and Dissemination Workshop on Port Greening and Maritime Decarbonisation,’ aimed at fostering dialogue and sharing expertise to support ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs) in addressing maritime challenges.
Led by MPA’s Deputy Director (Vessel Traffic Management), Capt Henry Sng, Director (Maritime Decarbonisation & Net-Zero Pathways), Wei Siang New, and Senior Sustainability Manager (Maritime Decarbonisation), Minerva Lim, the delegation had the opportunity to learn about Singapore’s decarbonisation initiatives and explore the potential for similar projects in their own countries.
Topics covered included the development of green and digital shipping corridors, net-zero fuel pathways for ports and shipping, and Singapore’s efforts to digitalise and innovate in its vessel traffic management operations to ensure safe and efficient navigation.
“We look forward to continued collaboration with ADB and other like-minded partners as we work towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and making shipping efficient, digital, and green,” MPA added.
