LNG bunker fuel supplier Titan on Monday (24 July) said it successfully completed a gas-up and LNG bunkering operation of Silversea Cruises’ newest LNG-fuelled hybrid cruise ship Silver Nova.
Titan-chartered bunkering tanker Green Zeebrugge successfully completed the operation on 10 June in the seaport of Eemshaven in Groningen, The Netherlands, and involved the provisioning of LNG for Silver Nova, which is owned by Royal Caribbean Group.
“The gas-up and bunkering operation marked a significant step forward for sustainable and environmentally friendly maritime practices. With Titan’s expertise, the operation was executed seamlessly, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of 900 cubic metres of LNG to the Silver Nova,” it said in a social media post.
“Notably, 96% of the total volume delivered was used for bunkering purposes, showcasing the vessel’s strong commitment to reducing emissions.”
Manifold Times previously reported shipbuilder Meyer Werft handing over its newest cruise ship, Silver Nova, to Silversea Cruises.
Meyer Werft said before being handed over in Eemshaven, Silver Nova proved its seaworthiness during technical and nautical sea trials and has successfully completed extensive tests.
