Shell takes delivery of Europe’s largest inland LNG bunkering vessel

Energy giant Shell on Friday (15 November) took delivery of its newest LNG bunker barge Energy Stockholm at the GATE Terminal in Rotterdam.
Dexter Belmar, General Manager and Head of Global Downstream LNG at Shell, said the christening of the vessel, which has a capacity of 8,000 m³, was held last Wednesday.
He added Energy Stockholm, Europe’s largest inland LNG bunkering vessel, completed its first loading operation at the terminal.
“She has also been spotted doing an operation with her ‘little sister’ LNG London in the Port of Rotterdam recently,” he said in a social media post.
“Perfectly timed to meet the expected rising demand in LNG bunkering, this barge will serve our customers in Zeebrugge, Antwerp, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam. Some of our largest customers tell us that they have a new LNG dual-fuel ship coming on water every month.”
He added Shell is well poised to support the bunkering needs of their customers’ growing fleet with its network of 12 bunker barges operating across 26 locations.
