MPC Capital holds naming ceremony for methanol-ready boxships in Korea

Global asset and investment manager MPC Capital on Wednesday (30 August) said a naming ceremony was held for the first two 5,500 TEU eco-design newbuildings out of the six-vessel series at Korean shipyard HJ Shipbuilding & Construction in Busan.
The two vessels are built for their Norwegian owner Ocean Yield.
“The vessels feature state-of-the-art specifications and an environmentally friendly design, offering a 40% reduction in consumption and allowing for conversion to carbon-neutral operations based on green methanol,” the firm said in a statement, adding that the vessels are compliant with EEDI-Phase 3 and NOx Tier III standards.
Upon delivery, both vessels will commence a seven-year charter with ZIM under their charter names: MV ZIM DANUBE and MV ZIM GANGES.
