Cosco Shipping Lines on Thursday (14 March) said its 62,000-tonnes cargo vessel Zhong Yuan Hai Yun Jin Qu was refuelled with 200 metric tonnes (mt) of B24 biofuel blend recently.
This marked a milestone for the firm as it was the first time that a COSCO Shipping Lines’ ship was bunkered with marine biofuels in China.
The B24 biofuel was provided by China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers Co Ltd through ship-to-ship bunkering.
On 5 August 2023, COSCO Shipping Lines’ cargo vessel Da Chang was bunkered with 500 mt of biofuel in port of Singapore.
After nearly a month of trial, it passed the test with relevant data confirming that emission reduction was achieved.
