French shipping giant CMA CGM on Monday (28 September) announced the naming of its latest 15,000 TEU methanol-powered vessel, CMA CGM ALCESTE, during a ceremony.
The vessel is part of a series of six vessels, each named after an iconic literary character whose story has travelled through generations.
“Under the command of Captain Li Qiang WANG, CMA CGM ALCESTE will now join our BEX2 service, carrying a name born on the stage onto the world’s oceans,” it said.
CMA CGM took delivery of another 15,000 TEU methanol-powered vessel in August, with CMA CGM ROI ARTHUR joining the company’s REX2 service.
