CSSC-MES Diesel Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CSSC Marine Power Zhenjiang Co., Ltd., successfully delivered the “world’s first CMD-WinGD 9X92DF-2.0 iCER dual-fuel main engine” on 13 March, according to China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) on Wednesday (15 March).
The main engine will be installed on a 13,000 TEU container ship built by Hudong Zhonghua for global player in sea, land, air and logistics solutions CMA CGM.
As the second-generation model of X92DF, the engine adopts the latest Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling (iCER). Through this technology, the combustion and emission performance of the main engine is further optimised, the fuel consumption rate is reduced by about 5%, and the gas consumption rate is reduced by about 3%, making the main engine more competitive in the market and winning the trust of major shipowners.
At present, 26 sets of X92DF-2.0 main engines have been ordered globally, all of which are under construction by CSSC Marine Power Zhenjiang.
Manifold Times previously reported Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of CSSC, started construction on the third out of six LNG-powered containerships for CMA CGM group.
A steel cutting ceremony was held to mark the start of the construction of the 13,000 TEU LNG powered containership, designed by 708th Research Institute of CSSC.
Hudong-Zhonghua and Jiangnan Shipyard were each building six LNG-powered ships for CMA CGM under a deal announced in April 2021.
After the completion of this series of ships, they will become the largest dual-fuel container ships operating in the South American route.
