Guangzhou Port on Saturday (1 November) completed its first Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operation, according to the port authority and Guangzhou Port Group.
The operation involved bunkering vessel Hai Yang Shi You 301 successfully supplying about 3,000 cubic metre (m3) of bonded LNG bunker fuel to large container ship MSC THAIS while berthing at the Nansha Phase III Container Terminal at the port.
Dai Tinglei, Director of the Dispatch Command Centre of Guangzhou Port Co Ltd, said Guangzhou Port is committed to creating a cleaner and more sustainable green port model.
“This marks a significant step forward in expanding Guangzhou Port’s LNG bunkering modes—from offshore to onshore—realising full coverage of LNG bunkering services.
“Guangzhou Port will continue to broaden its range of green bunkering services and application scenarios, optimise the port’s energy structure, and contribute to achieving China’s carbon neutrality goals.”
