French shipping giant CMA CGM on Friday (16 October) said it has named its latest 15,000 TEU methanol-powered vessel, CMA CGM LORENZACCIO.

The vessel joins a series of six containerships inspired by characters from French literature.

“Named after Alfred de Musset’s famous protagonist, she carries this literary heritage into a new chapter for our fleet, while contributing to our Net Zero Carbon 2050 ambition,” the company said in a social media post.

Under the command of Captain Predrag Vojvodic, the vessel will join its REX2 service, bringing additional capacity to its network and supporting the trade flows the company’s customers rely on.

Manifold Times previously reported the naming of another 15,000 TEU methanol-powered vessel, CMA CGM ALCESTE, during a ceremony.
