Sonan Energy Panama names David Ortiz as new Trading Manager

Sonan Energy Panama, a subsidiary of London-based marine fuel supplier Sonan Bunkers, on Sunday (15 March) announced that David Ortiz has joined as its new Trading Manager.

Last year, Sonan Bunkers announced its strategic expansion with the opening of its first office in the Americas, Sonan Energy Panama SA.

Hernán Ortiz, Managing Director of Sonan Bunkers, said David brings a strong international background and a disciplined mindset shaped by his early service as a U.S. Marine, where he spent four years serving in the United States, Afghanistan, and other international assignments.

Following his military service, David began his career in the bunker trading industry in Dubai in May 2016. Since then, he has built nearly a decade of experience as a bunker trader, first in Dubai for over a year and later in the United States for around 8 years, developing extensive market knowledge and global relationships.

“His professional experience across Asia, Europe, and the Americas brings significant value to the continued growth of Sonan Energy Panama and the development of our new office,” said Hernán in a social media post. 

David has now relocated permanently to Panama, where he will lead our trading activities and help strengthen our presence in the region.
