Burando Energies on Wednesday (27 August) said it entered into a strategic collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) and World Fuel Services to supply sustainable biofuels during port stays in the Netherlands for NCLH’s three brands – Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
The NCLH vessel portfolio includes Norwegian Prima along with five other vessels across the fleet receiving biofuel blends.
Each delivery features a 30% blend of ISCC-certified, waste-based biodiesel, achieving a reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to conventional marine fuels. The blend was used as a drop-in fuel, fully compatible with existing engine infrastructure and operational protocols, demonstrating both its practicality and immediate impact.
On the supply side, Burando Energies serves as the physical supplier and logistics partner, leveraging its expertise in fuel handling and blending.
World Fuel Services acts as the project facilitator by ensuring seamless coordination and execution across all parties.
“This collaboration offers a scalable, actionable pathway for cruise lines and fuel providers to jointly reduce maritime emissions,” the company said.
“By delivering sustainable marine fuels that are available today, Burando Energies, NCLH, and World Fuel Services are taking tangible steps to support the broader decarbonization strategy in the shipping industry.”
