BAC Renewable Energy (BAC RE) on Friday (7 February) announced the official signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Singapore-based Dovechem Group and TLP Terminal (TLPT), owner and operator of Tanjung Lang for the development of the BAC RE ASEAN Biofuels Storage and Exporting Hub at Tanjung Langsat Port, Johor.
BAC RE said the collaboration is a testament to their shared vision of accelerating the adoption of green maritime fuels and reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a regional biofuel hub leader.
“Through the BACRE ASEAN Biofuels Storage & Exporting Hub, we are establishing a market for biogas-derived products, enabling producers to convert previously stranded resources into high-value, globally traded green fuels,” the firm said.
“By bridging this gap, we are creating a sustainable, scalable value chain where biogas can be refined into BioLNG and other advanced biofuels—ready for export and maritime bunkering.”
It added this effort will position Tanjung Langsat Port as a global biofuels hub, attracting international vessels in need of green fuel solutions, and ensuring Malaysia’s ports remain competitive in the era of sustainable maritime operations.
Separately, TLP Terminal said the facility will be designed to accommodate a diverse range of vessels, from small coastal tankers to large ocean-going carriers, ensuring efficient transshipment and delivery of BioLNG and in the future, including Biomethanol, to key markets worldwide.
“Implementing cutting-edge monitoring systems, optimised vessel scheduling, and enhanced safety protocols will further improve operational efficiency and reduce turnaround times,” it added.
