Steel cutting begins on Avenir LNG’s second 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel in China

Avenir LNG on Friday (24 October) said steel cutting was carried out for its next 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel on 17 October at Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co Ltd (CIMC SOE).

Hull S1124 is second of two vessels in Avenir LNG’s latest series and is scheduled for delivery for early 2027.

The company said the vessel will go on to serve under a long term charter.

Manifold Times previously reported the steel cutting for the first of two 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessels. 

Hull S1123 is the first of two vessels and is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2026, under charter to Vitol International Shipping. 

Manifold Times also previously reported it has entered into a shipbuilding contract with CIMC SOE in China, a subsidiary of CIMC Enric, for two 20,000 cbm LNG Bunker and Supply Vessels which are scheduled to be delivered in Q4 2026 and Q1 2027.

The newbuildings will feature new Type C tank designs, lower boil off rates, the latest engine technologies, hull form optimisation, and subcoolers which offer carbon emission reductions and minimises cargo losses compared to other vessels of this size. 

“The vessel design enables maximum compatibility and versatility for loading and discharging LNG and BioLNG to a wide range of receiving vessels and terminals reflecting the growing needs of our customers,” Avenir LNG said.
