SIPG Energy and Argus team up on green bunker fuels market information and analysis

SIPG Energy and Argus on Friday (18 July) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Shanghai to co-operate in the development of the green fuels industry chain and in the provision of green fuels information and analysis.

This strategic partnership combines SIPG Energy’s operational strength at the Shanghai Port Green Energy Hub with Argus’ market intelligence in green methanol, biofuels, and bio-LNG.

The collaboration will help market participants enhance their analysis of green marine fuel products such as green methanol, biofuels, and bio-LNG, as well as the global carbon market.

The MoU was signed by Gao Hua, Head of Argus China, and Luo Wenbin, Executive Director and General Manager of SIPG Energy.

Gao Hua said that Argus, as an independent pricing provider for the global energy and commodity markets, has profound industry insights which will provide important transparency in the green methanol and biofuel supply chains, and sees great potential in the Chinese market.

“Both parties have ample capacity for cooperation and will carry out in-depth collaboration to help the industry develop an industrial chain ecosystem, providing full support for the growing trading environment for green marine fuels,” said Gao Hua.

Luo Wenbin said that the global shipping industry’s low-carbon transition has now entered a critical period, and mutually beneficial cooperation will help the maritime industry to advance.

“It will help to link the Shanghai Port Green Energy Hub with energy transition demand from the global shipping industry, promote green fuels trading, and enhance the bunkering service capability and the appeal of Shanghai Port as an international shipping hub,” said Luo Wenbin.
