China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers Company Limited (Sinobunker), a joint venture between state-own company between COSCO Shipping Group and Sinopec Group, on Wednesday (24 April) completed its first overseas bunkering operation at Singapore port.

The company successfully delivered 1,700 metric tonnes (mt) of low sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) to Navios Nerine via Singapore-registered bunker tanker Straits Integrity operated by local bunker supplier Eng Hua Company Pte Ltd.

“This strategic breakthrough marks the first time Sinobunker independently operated the entire chain from upstream procurement to terminal bunkering in an overseas operation and has made significant progress in the construction of overseas bunkering outlets,” said Sinobunker.

“The successful implementation of the first overseas full-chain independent operation refuelling business not only demonstrates the company’s firm determination and remarkable results in participating in the high-quality joint construction of the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative but also accumulates valuable experience for the company to further enhance its overseas supply capabilities,” it highlighted.

Looking ahead, Sinobunker added it will further enhance its resource integration capabilities in the Singapore market.

The company will also actively explore ways to develop clean energy such as biofuel oil and green methanol and is committed to providing domestic and foreign customers with more efficient and environmentally friendly energy solutions, as part of efforts by China to contribute towards the green and low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry.

Sinobunker, registered and incorporated in December 2003, is the fourth biggest physical supplier in Mainland China; its major supply regions include East China and South China.
