Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration (Shanghai MSA) on Saturday (22 February) said Yangshan Port achieved a milestone with two bunkering operations of two CMA CGM large container ships taking place simultaneously at the port.
The move marked the first time Shanghai’s Yangshan Port has provided LNG bunkering services to two international ships on the same day and at the same terminal by two bunkering vessels, since Yangshan Port entered its “dual-vessel bunkering stage” last year, doubling its daily bunkering capacity.
Under the full supervision and escort of the Yangshan Port Maritime Safety Administration, Shengdong Container Terminal successfully completed the operations on the same day.

LNG bunkering ships Huaihe Nengyuan Qihang and Hai Gang Wei Lai under Shanghai SIPG Energy Service (SSES) respectively refuelled the two international container ships CMA CGM Dignity and CMA CGM Concorde with LNG bunker fuel.
Data showed that LNG bunkering volume at Shanghai Port reached 65,000 cubic meters (m3) in January this year, a year-on-year increase of 138%, with a total of 11 ship operations completed.
The total volume of the two ships’ simultaneous bunkering exceeded 10,000 cubic meters, and the daily bunkering capacity doubled compared with the previous one. It is predicted that by the end of this year, the LNG bunkering volume at Shanghai Port will increase by more than 50%.
