Singapore bunker supplier Sentek Marine & Trading Pte Ltd in late January welcomed a Singapore-flagged 300,000 dwt newbuilt very large crude carrier (VLCC) to its fleet, learned Manifold Times.
The open loop scrubber equipped Pacific M is built at the South Korea shipyard of Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and has entered into a long term time charter contract with an oil major.
It is equipped with a U.S. Coast Guard approved ballast water treatment system, uses environmentally acceptable lubricants and has ECO-ship notations for protection of the environment.
“The Pacific M will be deployed for international trading in the time charter market," a company source told Manifold Times and adds a sister vessel is currently being constructed at the yard.
“The VLCC will be trading worldwide, including to ports in US, EU, Middle East and the Far East.
“The new VLCCs will create more synergy with our partners, offering an extension of our services to our existing and new clients.
“We hope to promote and enhance Singapore’s reputation as a shipping hub by doing our part to increase our service level.”
