Japanese refiner Cosmo Oil on Friday (5 September) announced a ship-to-ship biofuel bunkering project with Japanese logistics and transportation firm NX Shoji at the Port of Tokyo from this autumn.
This project has been selected as part of the “Project to Promote Commercialisation of Decarbonised Fuels,” a joint project between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Public Service Corporation, a public interest incorporated foundation, to support biofuel initiatives.
“In this project, we plan to utilise NX Shoji’s biofuel supply scheme for ships and start supplying B24, a blend of heavy oil A and Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME), to our ship users and participating companies departing and arriving at Port of Tokyo this Fall,” Cosmo Oil said.
Cosmo Oil added that this project is being carried out with the support of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and will promote the commercialisation and implementation of biofuels in ships and work to revitalise related industries.
