Hercules Tanker Management (HTM) on Friday (20 February) announced the successful handover of bunker tanker Hercules Elisabeth in China, the second vessel in the company’s new Ultra-Spec Series of next-generation tankers.

HTM is the shipping venture launched in September 2024 by John A. Bassadone, founder and CEO of independent marine fuel supplier Peninsula.

“As part of our Ultra-Spec Series, Hercules Elisabeth reflects consistent design and performance standards, reinforcing our commitment to renewing the fleet with highly efficient, future-ready tonnage,” the company said in a social media post.

Part of a series of 10 hybrid-ready, 7,700 DWT vessels, Hercules Elisabeth is built for worldwide operations and designed to transport and supply all grades of conventional bunkers, as well as alternative fuels up to B100 and methanol.

Equipped with diesel-electric propulsion, battery-ready configurations, and advanced hull designs, the vessels maximise efficiency and reduce emissions.

“With Elisabeth now delivered, the series continues to take shape, with further vessels scheduled for delivery at regular intervals through to 2027,” the company added.

“Each new addition supports our long-term sustainability KPIs, including our ambition to reach 10% alternative fuel consumption by 2030.”

Manifold Times previously reported HTM launching the first vessel of the series, HTM Harriet.

HTM also announced its plan to add up to 10 IMO II Chemical Tankers that will have the ability to supply up to 100% biofuel and all forms of methanol and feature diesel-electric and battery-ready power units
