Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) on Friday (21 August) held a groundbreaking ceremony for two 20,000-cubic-metre LNG bunkering vessels being built for GSX Energy.

The two vessels are the third and fourth in a series of four 20,000-cbm LNG bunkering vessels that CIMC Pacific Offshore is constructing for GSX Energy.

Construction of the first vessel began in May, while the second vessel commenced construction on 10 August.

The vessels are 159 metres long, with a beam of 25 metres and a design speed of 13 knots. Each will be equipped with a Wärtsilä dual-fuel main engine and a 1,300 kW shaft generator to meet power requirements during normal operations. A high-voltage shore power system can also be installed at a later stage.

“The simultaneous commencement of construction on both vessels marks a new phase of accelerated construction for this series of projects, fully demonstrating CIMC SOE’s construction capabilities and project management expertise,” CIMC SOE said.

Maran Tankers Management, part of Greek shipping company Angelicoussis Group, on Thursday (20 August) announced the delivery of MARAN MYRSINI, the fourth LNG dual-fuel Suezmax oil tanker in its series.

The 155,500 DWT vessel was built by New Times Shipbuilding Co Ltd and sails under the Greek Flag. 

The vessel’s delivery marked another important step in the continued expansion of Maran Tankers’ modern and energy-efficient fleet.

“MARAN MYRSINI incorporates an optimised hull form, advanced energy-saving devices, efficient BOG management, and a shaft generator arrangement, contributing to lower fuel consumption and improved operational performance,” the company said in a social media post. 

“We sincerely thank everyone involved in her successful construction and delivery, wishing MARAN MYRSINI and her crew fair winds and calm seas.”

Singapore-based bunker tanker owner/operator and marine fuel supplier Hong Lam Marine on Monday (17 August) announced the successful launching of 7,999 dwt bunkering vessel Priority at Jiangmen Hangtong Shipbuilding Co Ltd in China on 12 August. 

“As the first vessel in our latest series of four newbuilds, the bunkering vessel Priority represents an important milestone in our ongoing fleet renewal journey,” the company said in a social media post. 

“Despite the intense summer heat, the launching was carried out smoothly and safely. Watching Priority taking to the water was a proud and memorable moment for everyone involved in the project.” 

Hong Lam Marine added that the achievement reflected the strong partnership, dedication and teamwork of our project team, shipyard partners and stakeholders, whose collective efforts have brought the vessel to this significant stage of construction.

“We look forward to the successful completion and delivery of Priority in the months ahead and extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who has contributed to making this milestone possible,” the company added.
