China: Zhoushan Port launches night bunkering ops in Tiaozhoumen outer anchorage

Zhoushan Port on Wednesday (4 December) conducted the first night-time berthing and bunkering operations in the Tiaozhoumen Outer Anchorage, marking the official launch of the new service in the area. 

Bunkering vessel Dong Fang Zhao Yang supplied marine fuel to Panamanian cargo ship AquaGrace in a bonded bunkering operation in the early morning of 4 December. 

So far, the four major bunkering anchorages in the southern port area of Zhoushan have all achieved their first night-time bunkering operations.

Tiaozhoumen Outer Anchorage is one of the important oil supply anchorages in Zhoushan waters, accounting for about a quarter of the total bunker fuel supply in Zhoushan anchorages.

In order to further tap the potential, achieve all-weather operations of the anchorage, and provide more stable, efficient and convenient maritime services for international shipowners this year, local authorities successfully came up with a night bunkering operation plan. 

Following that, a trial bunkering operation was conducted at night on 15 November.

After the night refuelling service is opened at the Tiaozhoumen Outer Anchorage, the operating time of the anchorage fuel supply will be directly increased, the utilisation rate of the anchorage will be improved, the waiting time of international ships will be greatly reduced, and more flexible and convenient refueling options will be provided for international shipowners. 

The port added that the new operation will help increase the bonded bunkering volume of ships in Zhoushan and will advance Zhoushan’s promotion in creating a global bonded bunkering centre for ships.
