Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) on Tuesday (8 September) said it has signed a Framework Agreement for Strategic Collaboration with Everllence, establishing a five-year partnership focused on maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation.

Signed at SMM 2026 in Hamburg, the agreement sets out a structured framework for cooperation between the two organisations through September 2031.

Under the agreement, BV and Everllence will work as core partners in the areas covered by the framework and establish a governance structure to oversee the collaboration. It will bring together Everllence’s expertise in marine propulsion, energy systems and emissions-reduction technologies with BV’s capabilities in classification, technical assessment and regulatory support.

The collaboration will focus on addressing maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation challenges through alternative fuels, advanced propulsion concepts and innovative digital solutions. It will also strengthen technical knowledge sharing and support the development of practical, customer-focused solutions.

Under the agreement, BV and Everllence will work as core partners in the areas covered by the framework and establish a governance structure to oversee the collaboration.

A Steering Group will meet annually to review progress, discuss major developments affecting the maritime industry and identify areas for further cooperation. Specific projects will be defined and formalised through individual sub-agreements, allowing the two organisations to develop targeted initiatives as industry requirements, technologies and regulations evolve.

David Barrow, SVP for Western Europe and Americas, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, said: “Decarbonization and digitalization are changing both the technologies used on board ships and the regulatory framework around them.

“This agreement gives Bureau Veritas and Everllence a clear structure for working together over the longer term, identifying areas where our respective expertise can support the development and application of new technologies.”

Chirstian Ludwig, Vice President at Everllence, said: “At Everllence, we believe that the maritime industry’s most important challenges can only be addressed through strong partnerships.

“Our collaboration with Bureau Veritas brings together complementary expertise, a shared commitment to technical excellence, and a common vision for decarbonisation and digitalisation.”
