Türkiye-based marine fuel supplier Arkas Bunker on Wednesday (20 November) said it has supplied its biofuel, Bio24F, to YM Inventive, a container ship operated by Yang Ming, at Kumport.

Bio24F is made by blending 24% ISCC-certified used cooking oil (UCO) with 76% very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO). The UCO component of the biofuel is derived from processing used cooking oil collected from restaurants and food facilities.

The bunkering operation marked Arkas Bunker’s first biofuel supply to a shipowner other than Arkas Line.

Seckin Gul, General Manager of Arkas Bunker, said: “We are extremely proud and happy to have carried out Türkiye’s first biofuel supply, both for our country and for our company.”

“This milestone has allowed us to experience the benefits of biofuel on our own vessels, and we have collectively witnessed the highly positive features of our fuel. While we use our biofuel, Bio24F, on Arkas Line vessels, we also offer it to other shipowners.”

“We stand alongside all shipowners in their sustainability journeys, providing tailored solutions for their vessels to achieve cleaner seas.”
