“Marina Zanite” becomes Singapore’s first tug to receive BV Biofuel-Ready notation

Bureau Veritas (BV) on Tuesday (5 August) announced that Singapore-based Marina Offshore Pte Ltd’s Marina Zanite is the first tug in Singapore to receive Bureau Veritas Biofuel-Ready notation — achieved through a retrofit.

BV said this achievement marked a bold step forward in maritime decarbonisation.

“By upgrading an in-service vessel — including fuel tank modifications and crew training — Marina Zanite has demonstrated that existing fleets can be effectively adapted for biofuel operations,” the classification society said.

Brian Lim, Head of Marketing of Marina Offshore, said, “Marina Offshore is proud to take another step towards a greener future. The successful retrofit of Marina Zanite to achieve the Biofuel Ready notation highlights the value of working closely with Bureau Veritas.

“Meaningful collaborations such as this empower smaller operators like us to contribute towards MPA’s 2030 decarbonisation targets while driving sustainable innovation in harbour towage operations.”
