Korea-based HMM unveils 13,000 TEU LNG-ready boxship “HMM Ruby”

Korea-based integrated logistics company HMM on Tuesday (25 June) introduced its seventh of twelve 13,000 TEU containerships, HMM Ruby.

HMM said the ship was named after the birthstone of July, symbolising its commitment to treat customers’ cargo as precious jewels.

HMM Ruby was unveiled at a naming ceremony at the Hanhwa Ocean shipyard and has started embarking on the PSX route, which is the Pacific South Express connecting South Korea and the United States, from 25 June.

The ship includes a LNG-ready structure for potential conversion to LNG propulsion and is capable of transporting approximately 13,000 20-foot containers.

HMM sadi it was designed for slow navigation, offering lower pollutant emissions and higher fuel efficiency than its counterparts.

The ship’s PSX calling ports are: Shanghai (China) – Gwangyang (South Korea) – Busan (South Korea) – Los Angeles (USA) – Oakland (USA) – Busan (South Korea) – Gwangyang (South Korea) – Incheon (South Korea).
