Bruins primary focus will be on drop-in fuels to lower emissions across the group and its partners; he will assist in the new fuels team for marine markets and changing energy requirements of the future.

International bunkering firm Fratelli Cosulich has appointed Sebastiaan Bruins as its biofuels trading advisor in Singapore, according to Bruins on Friday (4 August).

“My primary focus will be on drop-in fuels to lower emissions across the group and its partners. Second, I’ll be assisting in the new fuels team for marine markets and the changing energy requirements of the future,” he said in a social media post.

Bruin was working with Trefoil Trading as its Renewable Marine Fuels Trader from February 2022 to November 2022 before he relocated to Singapore.

Manifold Times previously reported Fratelli Cosulich Group becoming the first supplier in Italy and one of the first in Europe to deliver bio-VLSFO (Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil) in February 2023.

The firm said Hapag-Lloyd provided one of their vessels to run a test using the biofuel. The delivery was done in collaboration with Genoa-based barge company Ottavio Novella.

The container vessel burnt the fuel with no issue, which is made up of ISCC-certified 10% bio component sourced from an Italian biorefinery.

In addition to its new biofuel options, the company has invested in new LNG bunker vessels, and is studying the use of methanol as marine fuel.
