Oslo-listed product tanker owner and operator Hafnia on Saturday (22 April) announced the first LNG bunkering operation aboard any Hafnia vessel.

Hafnia said the LNG bunkering of product tanker Hafnia Languedoc took place successfully and seamlessly at the Port of Pengerang in Malaysia in mid-April.

Hafnia Languedoc is the first of Hafnia’s four dual-fuel vessels which are time chartered out to TotalEnergies and Equinor. The firm added the vessel was delivered to them in March.

“Well done to all those involved, and we look forward to sharing more on LNG bunkering in the months to come, as we take over more LNG dual fuel vessels,” it said in a social media post.

Manifold Times previously reported Hafnia announcing it will welcome four new dual fuel LR2 product tanker additions to its fleet. Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) were appointed to build the vessels.

The GHG emissions of vessels designed with the most efficient LNG propulsion technologies available will be in a range 5,000- 6,000 tonnes per year lower than conventional tankers. They will also be more efficient — meaning they exceed “Phase 3” Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) requirements.
