The China Classification Society (CCS) in April issued an approval in principle (AiP) certificate for the design of a 6,000 cubic metre (m3) capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel to CGR Arctic Marine.

CGR Arctic Marine is a subsidiary of Landmark Capital Ltd. (LMC), and Shanghai Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI).

According to CCS, the ship is designed as a 2G-Type LNG bunker vessel with ‘C’ Type independent tanks, and equipped with LNG fuel main engine and dual propeller propulsion system.

The design includes a set of cryogenic gas recovery unit (CGR Unit) developed by CGR Arctic Marine, which can be used for cryogenic gas recovery on LNG fuel-powered ships.

“The vessel can provide easy and convenient LNG fuel bunkering service for LNG power ships,” it states.
