The Vietnam Coast Guard on Sunday (19 February) said it arrested a wooden hulled ship with the number KG-95945 TS at about 17 nautical miles southwest of Hon Thom Island.
A patrol boat belonging to the 2nd Reconnaissance Group discovered a boat displaying several suspicious signs and ordered the vessel to stop for inspections at 1.20am on 19 February.
An initial investigation found the ship, which had four members on board, to be transporting about 50,000 litres of diesel oil with no documents proving its legal origin.
As such, the authorities made a record of administrative violations and escorted the vessel to port of Squadron 401 in Phu Quoc city for further investigations and handling in accordance with the law.
