Singapore-based marine lubricant supplier Gulf Marine on Thursday (15 January) welcomed Reliable I, into service with a naming ceremony at Marina Keppel Bay, marking the arrival and operation of the company’s first purpose-built lubricant supply barge.
The vessel will further strengthen Gulf Marine’s supply chain capabilities in Singapore, ensuring on-time, in-full lubricant delivery to vessels in Singapore and regional ports.
Lisa Holum, Chief Operating Officer Asia of OSM Thome, stepped forward as Godmother and conducted the traditional bottle ceremony, officially commissioning the 56-metre vessel before more than 100 senior shipping executives, shipowners, and marine professionals.
Built from the keel up to set a new benchmark in delivery speed and reliability, Reliable I boasts a 1,058 KL total cargo capacity, a IMO Tier III-compliant Mitsubishi high-speed main engine with SCR system and advanced loading systems and real-time inventory management.
Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Marine, Frank Olsen, said: “Reliable I is a major step forward: our first owned, purpose-built barge. It enables faster, cleaner and more consistent deliveries, and it underlines the promise we make to every customer – on-time, in-full, wherever your vessels operate.”
The newly launched barge now operates alongside Gulf Marine’s six chartered barges in Singapore.
