The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) on Wednesday (9 August) said shipping law firm Clyde & Co and its former partner Ed Mills-Webb have been referred to the Solicitors Disciplinary tribunal for allegedly failing to comply with anti-money laundering procedures and breaching money laundering regulations.

“The Tribunal has certified that there is a case to answer in respect of allegations which relate to matters arising from the firm’s handling of a number of matters on behalf of a client and companies used by the client involving failure to comply with anti-money laundering procedures and breach of Money Laundering Regulations in relation to a number of matters spanning a period of over 4 years,” the SRA said in a notice on its website.

“The allegations are subject to a Hearing before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and are as yet unproven.”

A similar notice was issued on Mills-Webb, who reportedly resigned from the firm in 2019 and joined Preston Turnbull as a consultant.
