Maritime software provider Sedna on Tuesday (20 October) said it has integrated bunker procurement platform Nereus’ daily bunker price indications into its email platform, giving chartering, operations and bunker procurement teams access to prices across more than 450 ports.
The Nereus Bunker Indication Prices app is available on the Sedna Certified App Marketplace and provides daily price indications for six fuel grades: high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), low sulphur marine gasoil (LSMGO), ultra low sulphur fuel oil (ULSFO), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and biofuel.
Prices are updated daily by Nereus and delivered automatically to Sedna Email. Chartering, operations and bunker teams work from one shared set of prices, without leaving Sedna to open a second system.
Sedna said the integration is intended to make bunker price information accessible within email conversations where chartering and voyage operations are discussed.
“Shipping decisions are made under time pressure, with information spread across inboxes, spreadsheets and specialist tools,” said Bill Dobie, Founder and CEO of Sedna.
Nikolas Gkikas, Founder and CEO at Nereus, said: “Bunker cost decides the result of a voyage, and it is estimated long before the vessel reaches the port.
“It represents 40 to 60% of what a voyage costs, so the prices behind every calculation must be accurate and current. With Nereus in Sedna, that estimate rests on today’s market prices, and the decisions that follow are better informed.”
Note: The app is available through the Sedna Certified App Marketplace. Sedna users can access daily price indications for 20 ports free of charge, while access to the full coverage requires a Nereus subscription.
