The bunker sales volume at Panama fell by 5% on year in May 2020, according to the latest data from La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá, also known as the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA).
Total bunker sales at Panama was 393,316 metric tonnes (mt) in May, compared to sales of 414,618 mt during the similar period in 2019.
In May 2020, the Pacific side of Panama posted bunker sales of 338,585 mt; 26,905 mt of RMG 380 was sold, 13,586 mt of marine gas oil (MGO), and 24,263 mt of low sulphur marine gas oil (LSMGO) were delivered.
The similar region saw total sales of 344,184 mt a year before in May; with RMG 380 sales of 311,835 mt, MGO sales of 28,745 mt, and 3,604 mt of LSMGO being sold.
The latest data for the Pacific side introduced a new VLSFO 0.5% marine fuel category which recorded 273,831 mt of sales in May.
Panama’s Atlantic side, meanwhile, recorded sales of 54,731 mt during May 2020; 6,513 mt of RMG 380 was sold,MGO recorded no sales and 10,011 mt of LSMGO were delivered.
It saw total sales of 70,434 mt in the similar period a year before; with RMG 380 sales of 62,397 mt, MGO sales of 6,269 mt and LSMGO sales of 1,768 mt.
The newly introduced VLSFO 0.5% recorded 38,207 mt of sales at the Atlantic.
