Bunker sales at Panama fell by about 14.1% on year in January 2021, according to the latest data from La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá, also known as the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA).
Total bunker sales at Panama was 409,767 metric tonnes (mt) in January, compared to sales of 477,339 mt during the similar period in 2020.
In January 2021, the Pacific side of Panama posted bunker sales 346,022 mt; 60,368 mt of RMG 380 was sold, 12,216 mt of marine gas oil (MGO), and 26,691 mt of low sulphur marine gas oil (LSMGO) were delivered.
The similar region saw total sales of 477,339 mt a year before in January; with RMG 380 sales of 16,890 mt, MGO sales of 40,407 mt, and 6,527 mt of LSMGO being sold.
For the Pacific side, data showed newly VLSFO 0.5% marine fuel recorded 246,747 mt of sales in January compared to 323,831 mt in January 2020.
Panama’s Atlantic side, meanwhile, recorded sales of 63,745 mt during January 2021; 10,229 mt of RMG 380 was sold, MGO recorded no sales and 11,399 mt of LSMGO were delivered.
It saw total sales of 89,684 mt in the similar period a year before; with RMG 380 sales of 4,536 mt, MGO 10,191 mt and LSMGO recorded sales of 1,771 mt.
The newly introduced VLSFO 0.5% recorded 42,117 mt of sales at the Atlantic in January 2021 compared to 64,476 mt sold in the same period last year.
