Norway to continue refuelling US Navy vessels despite bunker supplier boycott call

The Norwegian government on Sunday (2 March) has stated it will continue to supply bunker fuel for US Navy ships after one of the country’s marine fuel suppliers stated it will stop doing so.
The country’s defence minister Tore Sandvik said the government has seen reports raising concerns about support for US Navy vessels in Norway.
“This is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy. I can confirm that all requested support has been provided,” Sandvik said in a statement.
“The US and Norway maintain a close and strong defence cooperation. American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway.”
His statement came following Norwegian fuel supplier Haltbakk Bunkers put out a strongly worded post on Facebook that it would stop supplying fuel to US Navy ships in response to how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was treated at the White House recently.
“Huge credit to the president of Ukraine (for) restraining himself and for keeping calm even though USA put on a backstabbing tv show. It made us sick. Short and sweet. As a result, we have decided to immediate(ly) stop as a fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwegian ports. No Fuel to Americans!,” it said in the post.
The post has since been deleted. However, images of the post are still circulating on social media.
