30 Dec 2022

U.S. domestic shipping owner/operator TOTE Maritime on Wednesday (28 December) said North America’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge, the Clean Jacksonville, has completed its 300th bunkering operation.

“Over the years, the Clean Jacksonville’s crew has safely supplied the cleanest marine fuel to Maritime Puerto Rico’s Marlin container ships, as well as many other LNG powered vessels calling Jacksonville,” said the firm in a social media post.

“Bravo Zulu [Well done] to TOTE Services, JAX LNG, Foss Maritime Company and the countless other partners and vendors who have helped us reach this milestone.”

The Clean Jacksonville, constructed in Orange, TX at Conrad Orange Shipyard, was delivered to TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico in the Port of Jacksonville, FL to bunker its two Marlin Class containerships operating on LNG fuel between Jacksonville and San Juan, Puerto Rico in August 2018.

The LNG bunkering vessel completed its first ship-to-ship LNG marine fuel delivery operation to a foreign-flagged ship, namely the LNG-powered vehicle carrier Siem Confucius, at Jacksonville Port on 18 February 2021.
