MSC Containership encounters engine issues at sea due to bad quality bunker fuel

08 Apr 2021

International shipping line Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) on Tuesday (6 April) clarified that container ship MSC ARIANE, deployed on its Pearl service, had to stop at sea due to an engine issue due to bad quality of fuel on Friday, 2 April while en route from Xiamen, China to Los Angeles, USA.

The vessel has been diverted to Wakayama, Japan for repairs.

MSC ARIANE was expected to berth in Los Angeles by Saturday, 24 April. Due to the congestion in the Los Angeles area, we are now expecting a schedule adjustment to this original berthing plan.

MSC said it regrets any inconvenience caused by this incident and will communicate again in due course as soon as there is updated information available about the estimated arrival and berthing in Los Angeles.
