Bunker Holding subsidiary Bunker One on Tuesday (6 April) said it is expanding its physical bunker supply operations to St Croix, US Virgin Islands.
St. Croix, a soon-to-be Caribbean hub with the recent restart of the (formerly-Hovensa) St Croix deep conversion refinery, is strategically located along all major shipping lanes servicing US crude import & export markets as well as the regional markets for fuel oil and refined petroleum products in the Caribbean and Latin America.
By expanding its physical operations into St. Croix, Bunker One said it is now the leading independent bunker supplier in the Caribbean.
“I am very proud that Bunker One has been selected as the key physical supplier as it aligns perfectly
with our expansion plans in the Caribbean,” said Peter Zachariassen, CEO, Bunker One.
“We strive to be our customers’ preferred bunkering partner, and the expansion underlines that this is not just a strategy; we execute!”
MT Desna Star (12551 DWT), a highly specialized bunker tanker fully equipped for bunkering operations, has been added to Bunker One’s fleet for the operation.
The vessel has a capacity of 10,000 metric tons VLSFO and 2,200 metric tons of Low Sulphur Gas oil with high pumping rate capabilities to ensure efficient deliveries and effective operational turnaround.
The company will also offer an ex-pipe bunkering solution for vessel working cargo.
The expansion will be led by Georgia Kounalakis, Managing Director, Bunker One (Gulf of Mexico & Caribbean), and her team who hold solid local expertise and knowledge.
“Bunker One has an established physical supply platform with a market reputation for high-quality customer service, performance and integrity throughout its operation,” added Kounalakis.
“The St. Croix expansion provides us with an exceptional opportunity to further support our extensive customer portfolio with broad refuelling optionality for all shipping sectors while complementing our existing supply locations.
“With our strong track record of delivering solutions and managing significant end-to-end customer experience, we know that Bunker One will be a valuable option for all ship owners trading in the region. We look forward to receiving your inquiries.”
