The Melaka and Negeri Sembilan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on Wednesday (19 July) said it arrested two vessels conducting a ship-to-ship (STS) transfer without authorisation in Pulau Perjudi waters on 18 July.
MMEA Melaka and Negri Sembilan director Maritime Captain Iskandar Ishak said a MMEA patrol boat detected the two ships in close proximity at one nautical mile southeast of Pulau Perjudi around 3pm.
He said upon inspection, they found that the tanker was transferring oil, suspected of being diesel oil, to a cargo ship without having any authorisation documents to carry out such an operation.

The 31-metre long cargo ship registered in Port Dickson was operated by four male crew including the captain, all of whom are Malaysians. Meanwhile, the tanker is registered in Zanzibar, Tanzania with a crew of five men, all of whom are Indonesian citizens including the captain onboard.
He added both ships were detained to be investigated under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952 for conducting a STS oil transfer illegally.
